Gilsum Congregational Church
Sunday School Program
Do your children know the basics of the bible? What does the Apostle's Creed mean? By coming to our Sunday school children will learn the basics of Christ's teachings in a fun, activity filled setting.
Our Sunday School is held on the first Sunday of every month during the normal worship services at 10:00 a.m. Children go downstairs at about 10:15 a.m. right after the junior sermon. Lisa Wettig and Becky Adams are our teachers.
Starting with our May 6th class we will begin a 12-session study on the Apostle's Creed. The first session will be about "I belive in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth." Children learn through discussion, song, and activities.
During Palm Sunday, for example, the class reenacted the Triumphal Entry of Palm Sunday. For snack we had matzoh bread and grape joice to remember Jesus' Last Supper and its connection with the Passover. In our craft activity, the children made "stone" tombs in which to place Jesus' body. We held a puppet show andthen pretended to have Jesus on teh cross, be buried in teh tomb and rise from the dead on the third day. We then sang the song, "Lord We Lift Your Name on High."
For more information call Lisa Wettig at 352-1943.
The Apostle's Creed
I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and Earth, and in Jesus Christ, His only Son our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead and buried. The third day He arose from the dead; ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Universal Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.
--Amen.
